week#5 Tell Them That It's All For Sale

we got a good lesson last week : "earlier you come to the market, better spot you get"

so this morning i woke up earlier and prayed to Allah "ya Rabb, lariskan dagangan saya"

it was about 5AM in the morning when i arrived at home after morning pray in musholla. my wife had prepared everything we need for selling goodiebags in sunday market last night. goodiebags were packed, hangers were also packed in another bags.

0520AM i went to the market alone. i brought two huge red bags and wuuussss.....
i arrived at the market at about 0540AM. The other sellers were preparing their store but i hadn't brought my team. My wife was still at home trying to wake up Mima and Baim, both children are so hard to be awakened. So, i just put two mats on the ground and the bags on the top of it. You know the risk, the bags could be stolen by anyone. Alhamdulillah, the bags and the mats were still there on the ground and complete when i arrived with my wife and children. Still i had to ask my Dad's help to bring another bags (maklum, masih pengendara sepeda montorrr).

one thing positive this morning was i got my spot! my first spot.

and next challange is : could i improve my sales today?! because last week we could just sell 4 pieces of goodiebags!

i accecpted that challange and started preparing the store. 0645AM i started to shout the crowd "Tas lucu, tas lucu, hanya lima blas ribu!!", i started selling. "Patrick, Winnie the pooh, tas Lucu hanya lima blas ribu!", i added.

Berhasilkah??

Satu dua pengunjung mulai berdatangan ke toko kami dan alhamdulillah, transaksi demi transaksi berjalan lancar. Beberapa ibu bahkan ada yg datang karena melihat brosur di minggu-minggu sebelumnya. Ada yang mau coba-coba jualan dulu dengan ambil enam pieces dulu, ada yang sudah berhasil menjual di minggu sebelumnya dan kini mereka beli untuk dijual kembali.

Seorang ibu guru bahkan datang dengan janji sebelumnya untuk membeli sebanyak dua lusin untuk digunakan sebagai supenir yang akan dimix dengan ijasah anak didiknya di tingkat TK. Tentu saja ibu guru ini telah membeli produk kami sebelumnya.

Pelanggan baru juga berdatangan seiring dengan teriakan "lima blas, lima blas" yang saya lontarkan.  Tidak jarang pedagan lainnya mengalihkan pandangan ke saya yang begitu vokal menyuarakan produk saya ini. Saya lakukan semua ini karena toko kami tersembunyi, tidak mudah bagi orang untuk menemukan jalan ke toko kami. Jikapun mereka melihat toko kami, mereka harus melompat rantai untuk menyeberang.

Pelanggan baru yang tadinya hanya sekedar melihat, alhamdulillah akhirnya membeli sebanyak dua pieces. Resep saya terhadap pelanggan yang malu-malu adalah, berikan mereka brosur dan katakan "Silahkan, bawa aja brosurnya", setelah itu ambil salah satu sample dan biarkan mereka memegang produknya sambil jelaskan "Produk ini bisa menahan beban hingga 3kg. Bisa digunakan untuk sekolah, ngaji, kuliah ataupun kerja. Untuk bawa mukena juga bisa".

Convince them that your product can be used by various ages and its multifunction.

Help them to imagine how they can use your product, show them how to wear the bags and how their children look like when they wear butterfly goodiebags. It's an extraordinary effort but trust me, you'll get more customers when you do that, insya Allah.

Last but not least, lesson learned from this week selling are :

1. Wake up earlier, supaya rejeki ga dipatol ayam
2. Jika anda sudah menemukan tempat yang pas, tetaplah di sana.
3. Berikan senyuman anda kepada pelanggan lama
4. Pastikan calon pelanggan benar-benar tahu bahwa barang dagangan anda bukan pajangan.

Here i put stress on point number 4. Why ?? if you have good place, it's good for sales. But trust me, when you don't announce that your products are for sale, nobody will buy!

I have seen a real case in my office's canteen.  We see "warung siomay" everytime we pass through the gate of the canteen, but nobody shouts or aska the customers to buy siomay". Walhasil, yang laku justru produk yang di tengah, yang tidak terlihat namun sales mereka aktif menawarkan produknya. Sales, juallah produk anda. Jangan hanya diam karena calon pelanggan terkadang perlu disapa untuk membeli.

jadi, setidaknya kami menjual beberapa lusin hari ini, Alhamdulillah, terima kasih atas doanya yah....
